Rev. Dr. Michael Bean
Rev. Dr. Michael Bean served as pastor of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Columbus for 25 years. Following his tenure as a pastor, he served as the presiding elder of the A.M.E. Dayton District South Ohio Conference. He is now continuing his advocacy on behalf of children and families in a different capacity through his work at The Buckeye Ranch.
Rev. Bean is the thirteenth of nineteen children. “While growing up in Bermuda, the church always provided a sense of identity and centeredness for me,” says Bean. Sensing a hunger to serve others, he went on to be a United Nations volunteer and a counselor to troubled youth. Rev. Bean then went into the ministry. He is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, and a graduate of United Theological Seminary, where he received Master of Divinity and Master of Religious Education degrees. Later, Rev. Bean returned to United Theological Seminary, where he received a Doctor of Ministry degree.
